All schools in Uganda closed in March, 2020, shortly after the start of their school year. The generous donations by our friends allowed FOU to provide partial salary for the teachers and administrators for several months, and also provide subsidies for an on-site food pantry open to them.
Classes and on-site boarding resumed in November, 2020 for the P7 students, helping them prepare for the national exams that determine eligibility to advance to secondary level education. Classes resumed for grades P4-6 early in 2021. FOU continued to provided financial assistant to the school and scholarships for students in need. Uganda President Museveni ordered a country-wide lock-down that included closing all schools beginning in June, 2021. As before, FOU is helping support our teachers and school staff during this necessary but certainly unfortunate period.
